Overcoming Computer Melancholy: A TRUE STORY (Extract ver 2.0)
If there is one thing that i deserve to be delighted about (other than the up-and-coming CHRISTMAS SEASON), that's gotta be the realization of that particular new year resolution which had always been neglected due to 'lack of funding'... a BRAND-NEW COMPUTER! *BerZerker-mode grin*
After MONTHS of computer-related soap-opera plight (old monitor at the end of its road and displaying funky pink squashed screen, my old com's major registry corruption and onslaught of adwares, saving my $$$ for as much as i can out of the miserable NS ALLOWANCE to buy a new graphics card for my old computer so it can support the new flat-screen monitor, display-related riddles on my old computer etc etc etc blah blah)... enduring through turmoils and uncertainty (like national songs depicting early singapore), finally things have turned out for the better (phew!). Thanks to the long-awaited 'funding' from my parents (personal visits made by them to my room.. like US ministers visiting Botswana slums) and kudos to my friend Tongwei, who helped me hunt for the best computer parts in Sim Lim Jungle (that's what i call Sim Lim Square... so messy like a jungle) and customized it up into a STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGICAL MACHINE with 250GB monster disk space, enabled with Pentium 4 and RAM of 1GB! (already very impressive and 'powderful' for a computer idiot like me) No more 'hanging out with not-responding-programs'! *insert lame laughs SFX*
Housing my lovely new computer is a BRAND-NEW computer work desk... slick blue and spacious! (compared to my old low table which was incidentally a very popular living room table in the 80s and deserve a place in the museum) And complementing the computer desk is a high-back leather-clad wheeled armchair! So comfortable and yet so classy! (compared to.. erm the floor which i used to sit on when i was using my computer) Both pieces of furniture were purchased from IKEA and self-assembled by myself! The entire afternoon of decyphering the wordless instructions and misleading diagrams that came with the furniture and the screwing around (yes play with the word if it turns you on...) was all worth it!
*orgasmic glee*
Lastly but definitely not the least, with my own funding i managed to secure myself a BRAND NEW PSTWO (The slim version of PS2)! This may sound ridiculous, but although i've managed to 'tahan' (translation=endure) through my poly life with just my trusty PSONE (the slim version of PS1), and yes, i'm still surprised that i managed to abstain from PS2 for so long! (actually also can be traced back to problems with 'funding'). .. So ... like that lorh!
Now that i'm done with the updating.. perhaps i could do with other writing..erm yeah..maybe.. *lazy thoughts sink in again* ...For now i'd like a little privacy with my New Found Friends... :D
